Hi! I'm Emily, and I'm passionate about helping clients navigate life's ups and downs. I know from personal experience that navigating life's challenges, whether it's trauma or grief, or everyday stress can be overwhelming. That's why I create a safe, supportive space where my clients feel heard, valued and empowered. I earned my bachelor degree in psychology with a minor in Health Promotion from Michigan State University (MSU) in 2018. I went on to complete my master's in social work at MSU. In my work with children, adolescents and families, I've supported those navigating grief, trauma, anxiety and depression. I've also supported people with the unique challenges of neurodivergence. I have a neurodiversity-affirming approach. I am an advocate of honoring each person's individual strengths and needs and believe in celebrating the unique way our brain's work. My journey, both personally and professionally, has deepened my commitment to helping others heal,
grow and thrive. At my core, I value family, friendship, creativity, compassion and integrity. When I'm not working, I enjoy traveling and dreaming about all the places I still want to see. Music is a big part of my life. I enjoy going to concerts, singing and dancing whenever I get the chance. I also spend plenty of time with my "dog niece" as well as my five human nieces and nephews! And if you ever wonder what my favorite color is, it's always been pink! Therapy should feel comfortable and relatable. I am easy to talk to and I aim to make the process as easy for you as possible. Healing takes time but you don't have to do it alone _ I'm here to help. My ideal clients are ages 5-18+. I provide REMOTE therapy in Michigan to individuals and families. I specialize in depression, anxiety, neurodivergence (ADHD, autism, ect.), grief and trauma. I offer some evening and weekend appointments to best serve you!

Vicky is passionate about helping client's reach their full potential. She believes that with the right support, people can learn to overcome obstacles so they can truly feel like they are living their best life. She enjoys working with clients as they explore their thoughts, feelings and triggers. Exploring challenges and working on coping skills is often part of the work she does with clients. Sometimes clients report a general feeling of unhappiness and are unsure what to do. We often will explore their values and identify ways in which they can live in accordance to their values. Gaining insight into what a client wants and exploring the things we can and cannot control has helped countless clients experience an overall improvement in their mood, a decrease in worry and increased satisfaction with life. Sometimes our work in therapy requires us to go deeper as we explore experiences that have caused significant pain as in the case of grief, loss and trauma. It can be frightening to unpack those feelings. Trauma treatment and grief support with a trained professional who understands how to keep you safe, keep you grounded so you can process those feelings is important. Learning to live again when your life has essentially been turned upside down takes time. It is true that there are no timelines on grief. We may think that we just need to get to the one-year anniversary of a death and then we will be okay. It isn't always that simple. There are strategies people can learn to assist them in being able to integrate the loss into their life. Therapy can help clients learn to adapt and begin to make meaning of the loss and identify ways to honor the memories of their loved one. Sometimes the support of friends and family isn't enough and that is okay. Vicky has advanced certification in both grief and trauma. Her education, training and life experience has allowed her to develop the skills needed to support people of all ages during some of their darkest hours. Vicky is a fully licensed master level clinical social worker with 28 years of experience in the mental health field. She has advanced certification in both grief and trauma.
Vicky can accept all of the above plus BCN, Medicare, United Health Care. Medicaid clients accepted soon, reach out and ask to be added to our waitlist

About Best Life Therapy
Vicky Alvarez has 28 years of experience in the mental health field. It was never her plan to leave the group practice she worked for but the demand for services increased, and she no longer needed referrals from that group practice. Referral sources in the community and previous clients who had been happy with services they received often refer directly to her. Due to the success of her practice and the demand for services, Vicky made the decision to venture out into a solo practice in Davison, Michigan.
She turned her solo practice into a group practice in 2024 because there were more clients requesting services and she needed to find some excellent therapists to help meet the demand. Telling prospective new clients that she could not make an appointment for them when they called because her schedule was full was really hard. It seemed like everyone needed appointments after 4:00pm or on weekends. There wasn't enough time in the day for her to meet the needs of everyone who requested help. In 2024, she made the decision to launch her group practice starting in 2025 and has been fortunate to be able to bring on some skilled therapists who are committed to helping meet the mental health needs of our community. Vicky is enjoys providing career opportunities to other professionals and hopes to provide therapists with a supportive work environment so they can achieve their career goals. She has worked at larger group practices where the team never once met the owner and therapists did not receive support. There were no staff meetings and very few opportunities to connect with one another. Having a practice where therapists have a "work family" can allow clinicians to learn from one another and have the opportunity to form lifelong friendships with like-minded people all while supporting the mental health needs of our clients.
Feeling connected and supported at work is important. Vicky provides training, consultation and clinical supervision to her staff. She is passionate about offering quality supervision for other professionals. Apply today if you want to join our team. We believe in open communication and schedule times for staff to meet. We understand the value of building those professional relationships. We If you are willing to work some evenings/weekends, have some experience in the mental health field and want to work at a practice that values you and is committed to helping professionals grow in their skills, consider emailing us your resume and cover letter. We are carefully considering the location of our new offices and plan to have plenty of space for therapists and interns. Our goal is to eventually offer more in-person sessions for clients across the state of Michigan. We believe that therapists also deserve to live their best life!
